This summer I set a goal for myself. The goal was to do something new each week of the summer. I achieved my goal and here is some evidence of this.
Week one of the summer Mrs. Meyer and I hiked Devil's Gulch in Belvidere. Wow! I had never been there and wanted to see it. It took a lot longer than we thought. We hiked for about 4 hours. The hike was 51/2 miles. The rocks were so cool and we found a nice cabin on a pond and had a snack. What a great day.
This is a spiny softshell turtle and they are endangered in Vermont. On the second week I went Kayaking on Mud Creek a place new to me and saw many turtles including a snapping turtle, the carapace looked like armor.
Week three I traveled to San Diego to visit my daughter and her family. San Diego is a desert. I had never been there before so everything I did met my goal. Here are a couple of highlights:
My grandson Ethan. We are at the Pacific Ocean and I touched it! First time ever.
A king snake in the parking lot. Did you know they eat rattlesnakes?
Mrs. Ludington and I and her dog Ula climbed Belvidere Mountain. It has a fire tower on top. A beautiful view with a 360 degree panorama. My legs were so tired when we got down.
I had more new-to -me adventures over the summer. Although many I did not capture for different reasons. Sometimes the experience is all I want. But the last one I went on was amazing. I kayaked to where the Missisquoi River meets Lake Champlain, this area is also known as the mouth of the river, and saw four eagles.
So remember make your goals meaningful to you and don't forget to have fun doing them.
