Vacation is coming up and students are getting excited. To keep us as focused as possible on learning we will stick with our regular schedule and learn about the proper use and handling of the microscope. When we return from the break we will work on a lab that compares the plant and animal cell using the microscope.

When we return from winter bread we will perform an experiment called "Eggsperiment". If you have any wide mouth salsa jars with tops hanging around please send them in with your students.
Tomorrow we have a big quiz on cell vocabulary and the cell theory. Elements! Your student is working on a project about an element. Partners were picked randomly and the groups chose an element to research and create a product on. The project is due either Friday Jan. 24, or Mon. Jan. 27. The projects will be presented to the class. Ask your child to show you their work so far. Elements are fascinating and also explore the Nova Elements app on the i-Pad.

We are studying elements right now. We are working with the periodic table. Fascinating work. A book I read over the summer, "The Disappearing Spoon..." is a great read to help with the unders The final draft of "The Bling Thing" is due tomorrow. Students worked in groups to determine if an item of jewelry was pure silver or not. First we read the story of Archimedes. Finding the density of an object that does not have a regular shape is challenging. All students used the water displacement method. So if you find any wet jewelry around...
